Dean’s Gate is located in the city Centre, beside St Canice’s Church, just off Dean Street and opposite Hehir’s Funeral home. Dean’s Gate is a state of the art facility, from which services are provided to the people supported by St Patrick’s Centre, Kilkenny and others.
This facility offers a range of life enhancing and person-centered activities for each person. Services being planned, facilitated and / or delivered directly from Dean’s Gate are being reoriented in line with “New Directions”
“New Directions calls for a blurring of the boundaries between ‘special’ and ‘mainstream’ services so that people can access the support most suited to helping them put their personal plans into action. It challenges people with disabilities to have high expectations for themselves and of their community. It also challenges families and services to adopt an attitude of positive risk-taking. It encourages providers to provide greater outcomes from their current service.”
